Love bold paint colors but not ready to fully commit? One of the easiest ways to experiment with color is an accent wall! Anyone can add some real personality to their spaces with bold color palettes, unique touches, and inspired themes. When it comes to inspiration, you don’t have to look any further for accent wall ideas than this colorful room created by Liz Rishel, blogger behind Within the Grove for her adorable son Oliver.
How to Take Your Accent Wall from Basic to Brilliant
“I decided to focus on Oliver’s bedroom since we’re about to transition him to a big boy room in the coming months. But I knew I couldn’t just paint a wall. It had to be a little more special than that,” explains Elizabeth. Instead of sticking with the standard accent wall ideas like stenciling or removable wallpaper, she decided to add geometric architectural details using pieces of MDF board. And when it came time to choose an accent wall color, not only did she want a quality paint that would apply easily with a pro-level finish, she wanted the color to be as adventurous as her son is.
Choosing the perfect accent wall color
“I knew the exact paint color I wanted to use: Current Mood by Clare. It’s a moody green that’s full of all kinds of perfection when it comes to a bold wall. I couldn’t think of a better color for a little boy’s room,” says Elizabeth. “For the remaining walls in the bedroom, I went with Whipped. It’s the same color we used in our guest bathroom. It’s a creamy white that flows beautifully with the moody green.” The real beauty of Current Mood is that it’s a classic. It doesn’t skew too young or feel too much like a passing trend. It’s simply a beautiful color that can grow with Oliver.
A DIY accent wall to be proud of

And to say I’m proud is an understatement. I want to encourage you to try something new this week in your home", she says.
