The oasis of your home, your bedroom should be a space you love to spend time in. A no-fail way to make it feel fun is to add beautiful colors that you love—not all bedrooms need to be neutral. 1. Let Your Artwork Guide You

If you’re nervous about adding color to a room, specifically about what hues to mix and match, look no further than a favorite piece of artwork. Choosing a print or painting with color combinations you love makes it especially easy to design a room. Simply pull your favorite shades out of the artwork and use it to decide on a paint color scheme, textiles, accessories, and the rest of your décor items. In this example, our stunning blue-green hue Views coordinates beautifully with the artwork and bedding from Annie Selke.

2. Stay in the Same Color Family

In love with a certain color? While an entire room in the same thing might feel like a weird psychological experiment, working with different shades of the same color is an easy way to decorate. So if you paint your walls a softer pink like Wing It, try punching up the room with a bright pink comforter. Adding different pops of this color throughout the room feels cohesive and helps to unify the space. Repeat it at least more than once so it doesn’t feel accidental!

3. Play with Pattern

Break up a room that feels like it’s full of solids with a bold pattern. There’s two great ways to incorporate pattern in a bedroom—the comforter and the rug. A colorful comforter is a less expensive way to change up your bedroom, while a rug will be more of a commitment. But with all of the beautiful rug patterns that’s a great option too. Choose a version you love with colors you’d like to incorporate in the room, then you can pull one or more hues out of the rug by choosing other accessories in those colors.

4.Keep It Tone on Tone

If you're afraid of vibrant color and really want your bedroom decor to feel soothing, keep your color palette mostly neutral and incorporate soft hints of color. Opt for a sophisticated neutral paint color like Penthouse on your walls and incorporte accents in soft shades such as off-white, beige, oatmeal, and blush, which all add subtle hints of color instead of having any one standout hue. With colors so subdued it will feel like you’re sleeping in a watercolor painting. Plus, these neutrals all play very nicely together!

5. Use Accessories

If you’re not sold on a bold wall color, paint it a neutral that you’ll love for years but add colors through your accessories. Curtains, comforters or a patterned chaise won’t compete with the walls and will be stunning accent pieces that are sure to stand out. They’re easy to swap in and out as your tastes change too.
