A Garage Makeover That Proves Pink Paint Belongs Everywhere

Transform the space you never thought you’d love.

A Garage Makeover That Proves Pink Paint Belongs Everywhere

When you think of a garage makeover, you probably picture power tools, storage bins and maybe a shiny new floor...certainly not pink paint. But in Austin, Texas, one homeowner decided to give this often-overlooked space a redesign that proves even the most functional rooms deserve a little flair.

The result? A garage so good, it might just upstage the living room.

From Plain + Practical to Pretty + Purposeful

The home itself has serious character: a sprawling ranch built in 1978 with an addition from the early ’90s. It’s full of charm (and some dated corners), which makes it the perfect canvas for a modern refresh.

The homeowner, Amanda Hendrix, describes her aesthetic as “Nancy Meyers but moodier” (which might be the best design genre ever). She had a goal in mind: wanting every space to feel cozy, intentional and lived-in... including the garage.

“I spend a lot of time working in my garage, because I’ve always got a project going on,” she says. “This time, I wanted it to feel bright and clean. A space I actually want to be in.”

Translation: goodbye dingy walls, hello dreamy DIY workshop.

The Color That Changed Everything

With a new gray epoxy floor planned, the hunt was on for the perfect wall color. White felt too safe. Dark colors felt too heavy. And then came Wing It, our fresh and modern blush pink that can somehow make even sawdust look chic.

Before

After

“I knew from the photos it was exactly what I was looking for and I didn’t test it out at home at all. I just went for it!”

Bold move. Zero regrets.

When the paint dried, the transformation was instant. What was once a dim, forgotten corner of the home now feels airy, cheerful and camera-ready (because yes, this garage also moonlights as a backdrop for her DIY projects).

“It’s truly a space I want to be in now. I literally smile every time I walk into it.”

The Secret to a Stylish Garage

Beyond the paint, a large pegboard (painted a deep green for contrast) adds both function and flair. It ties the look together, balancing the soft pink walls with something a little more grounded.

The combo of pink + green feels fresh, slightly unexpected and perfectly Austin.

“The view of the pegboard is unmatched,” she says.

Lessons from a Weekend Makeover

This project might have been all about the garage, but the big takeaway works anywhere: never underestimate what a single afternoon and a few cans of paint can do.

“Every transformation like this reminds me of how impactful a fresh coat of paint can be,” she says. “This space is almost unrecognizable, and all it took was an afternoon of painting!”

Whether your garage is a storage zone, workshop or just the place you pass through every day, take it from this Austin homeowner, it’s worth giving it some pale-pink love.
