IXYS Clare Introduces 2 NEW Gate Driver Families
IXD_602 and IXD_ 614 Gate Driver ICs are ideal for driving IXYS power MOSFETs and IGBTs
September 28, 2010 – Beverly, MA, and Biel, Switzerland, IXYS Corporation (NASDAQ: IXYS – News) and Clare, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of IXYS, announce the immediate availability of the IXD_602 family and the IXD_614 family, the two latest additions to the IXD_600 series of high current, ultrafast low-side gate driver ICs. Each of the two IXD_602 outputs is capable of sourcing and sinking 2A of peak current while producing rise and fall times of less than 10ns. To drive higher current IXYS power MOSFETs and IGBTs, the IXD_614 output is capable of sourcing and sinking 14A of peak current.
“We have updated and expanded our driver ICs family, as a natural extension to the wide range of our power MOSFETs and IGBTs that we offer. Power MOSFETs and IGBT’s need to be driven by robust and smart driver ICs, to improve power systems efficiency, reliability, and performance. The input side of these drivers is designed to be controlled by our Zilog line of microcontrollers in digital power management applications, in power conversion, and in motor control products”, commented Dr. Nathan Zommer IXYS CEO. “Some of these drivers can operate light power loads as stand alone drivers, like for solenoids, solid state relays, actuators and amplifiers”.
Both the IXD_602 and IXD_614 can operate with supply voltages from 4.5V to 35V, and are specified over the -40°C to +125°C automotive temperature range. The logic inputs are CMOS compatible, and are virtually immune to latch up. Proprietary circuitry eliminates cross-conduction and current “shoot-through.” Low propagation delay times, and fast, matched rise and fall times make the IXD_602 and IXD_614 families ideal for high-frequency and high-power applications.
The IXD_602 is available with two inverting drivers (IXDI602), with two non-inverting drivers (IXDN602), and with one inverting driver and one non-inverting driver (IXDF602). The IXD_602 is offered in 8-lead DFN, SOIC, power SOIC, and DIP packages.
The IXD_614 is available as an inverting driver with an output enable (IXDD614), an inverting driver (IXDI614), and a non-inverting driver (IXDN614). The IXD_614 is offered in 8-lead power SOIC and DIP packages, and 5-lead TO-220 and TO-263 packages.
