Clare expands Power Relay Family by Offering Four New DC-only Devices with Current Handling – Up to 32A!

CPC1718, CPC1727, CPC1779, and CPC1788 DC-Only Power Relays are ideal for a variety of power applications including industrial controls, consumer appliances and medical equipment

January 15, 2008–Beverly, Massachusetts, USA – Clare, Inc., an IXYS company (NASDAQ: IXYS – News), today announced that it has fully released four new DC-only 1-Form-A Solid State Power Relays with the CPC1718, CPC1727, CPC1779 and CPC1788, offering designers up to 32 Amps (at a Case Temperature of 25 degrees Celsius) of current handling.

Available in the self-isolated ISOPLUS-264 package, the CPC1718, CPC1727, CPC1779 and CPC1788 have blocking voltages of 100, 250, 600, and 1000 Volts, and on-resistances of 0.075, 0.090, 0.400, and 1.250 Ohms respectively.

Development of these power relay products was founded on the blending of Clare’s traditional strengths in the design and manufacture of photovoltaic integrated circuits (ICs), leadframe design and multi-chip packaging with IXYS’ expertise in power MOSFETs, power packages and substrate technology.

Optically coupled MOSFET technology is used to provide 2500 Vrms of input to output isolation and, as in all Clare solid state relays, the optically coupled output is controlled by a GaAIAs infrared LED.

Additional Clare power relays are offered in the Power SIP and the i4-PAC (self-isolated) packages. The Power SIP offers pin-to-pin compatibility with other solid state relays providing an easy upgrade path for existing designs and compatibility for new designs. The i4-PAC combines an electrically isolated non-conductive exterior with low thermal impedance making it an ideal solution for power applications preferring a non-biased heat sink with superior thermal management properties.

This unique, RoHS compliant, family of 1-Form-A high-power Solid State Relays (SSRs) delivers the industry’s highest power MOSFET-based SSRs.  Applications include: motor control, robotics, medical equipment, railroad and traffic controls, consumer appliances, industrial controls, and, test and measurement equipment, and they are certified to UL 508 Standard for Industrial Control Equipment.
